Ljubljana City Break – weekend in Slovenia capital
An exciting mix of different cultural traditions. A city with a green soul. One of Europe’s top new culinary destinations.
Itinerary: Ljubljana City Break
Ljubljana City Break starts with Airport pick up – private transfer to your accommodation.
After you arrive at your hotel you will have some time to get ready for the first experience of this tour. It is a walking tour of Ljubljana city. The guide will take you through the city sights telling you all about the history of Slovenia and Ljubljana but they will also present you the lifestyle and everyday in the Slovenian capital. You will also get good advice on the best way to explore the city in the following days.
On the second day you will be leaving Ljubljana and heading to the Slovenian coast. First, on the way there you will visit Postojna, the queen of caves. Postojna is a real geological phenomena. The tour inside the cave takes approximately 1,5 h and it is fully organized. You join a group or grab audio guide and the adventure starts. You enter this cave system via small electric train and after 15 min the walking part starts. You will be amazed with what you see, walking through the numerous cave galleries. The cave is also a home to a unique species called human fish or Proteus. Some even call them baby dragons. You exit the cave once again by using the train.
Our next stop is the city of Piran, the city situated close to the Croatian border. This little town has a long history since it was first mentioned in the 7th century. As all the cities in this area, Piran was also under different rulers: Byzantium, Venice, Italy, Yugoslavia… Piran is all about being authentic – authentic in the surroundings, in food, in shops and local customs…
On the third day of your Slovenian experience, you will be travelling up north, into the Slovenian alpine area. You will visit the most popular and the most beautiful Slovenian destination – Bled Lake. This gorgeous Lake, hidden and surrounded by mountains, will take your breath away. We can plan your stay together – you can visit the Bled fortress, you can visit the Bled island and fulfill the legend by ringing the church bell, you can take a long walk and enjoy Bled cream cakes along the lake shore. Or we do it all. It’s up to you to plan and enjoy your perfect day.

First mentioned as Emona, in the 12th century, the city has a long and rich history. Located in the heart of the country it is the cultural, economic, political and administrative center of Slovenia. Several earthquakes made the city a mixture of architectural styles. You will walk on the Ljubljanica river bank, visit Prešern square, The Old city… The most interesting thing in Ljubljana are the numerous bridges with imaginative stories and legends.
Postojna cave is one one of the most visited caves in the world. It was also the first cave with electricity inside and also the first one that had a train tracks and a train that tool the visitors inside. As we said it’s 5 km long and the visitors route inside takes approximately 1 and a half hours to see. Walking through numerous different galleries wows each visitor. It is also a home to Proteus, human fish or how many like to call it: baby dragon.
Bled Lake is 2 km long and a bit 1.3 km wide. In the center of the Lake there is a Bled island which you will visit by using a traditional boat called Pletna. At the island there is a church dedicated to Assumption of Mary with 99 baroque steps leading to its entrance. Traditionally it is considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church. After a short coffee break on the shore of the Lake you will visit the old Bled castle with a mesmerizing view of the area.
